Swarm of Piranhas

Piranhas, also known as the devil fish, are freshwater scavengers; they consume fish and carrion, sometimes even eating vegetation. They can be found in still or slow-moving streams or lakes. They gather in large shoals for protection, with older piranhas in the middle and the younger ones around. Piranhas are more attracted to movement than by the scent of blood. They rarely attack large animals unless they are starving. This happens occasionally during the dry season, when water levels fall dramatically. When food is plentiful, piranhas pose almost no danger to humanoids. A piranha swarm deals +2 damage to any creature whose space it occupies at the end of its move.

Distraction: Any living creature that begins its turn with a piranha swarm in its space must succeed on a Difficulty 12 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save Difficulty is Constitution-based.

Wounding: Any living creature damaged by a piranha swarm continues to bleed, taking +1 damage each round thereafter. Multiple wounds do not result in cumulative bleeding loss. The bleeding can be stopped by a Difficulty 10 Medicine check or the application of the Cure supernatural power.

Skills: A piranha swarm has a +4 racial bonus on Notice checks, and a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.
